BLUF came to the surface in 2009, when they abducted the head of UNHCR John Solecki in Balochistan. His driver was killed by the abductors. In return, they demanded the release of Baloch insurgents in the custody of Pakistani security agencies. No such previous record about its formation is available.[1]

Who they are

The Balochistan Liberation United Front (BLUF) is a Baloch nationalist and separatist’s militant organization, conducting terrorists’ activities in the province of Balochistan to demand the independence of the province from Pakistan. First came to surface in 2009 since then they have been involved in different terrorists activities in the province. They are affiliated with BLA another militant organization of Balochistan. But the BLUF is more aggressive, violent and hardliner then their affiliate.[7]

History

According to the IG, FC’ Balochistan BLUF is a militant organization of same old insurgents but with the new name.[8] They first appeared on the stage in 2009 and from then onward have been active in terrorist’s activities. They took their start from the kidnapping of UNHCR head in Balochistan in 2009.[9] He was released later on. BLUF was behind the Killing of Balochistan province education minister the same year and they were also involved in attacks on the chief minister of Balochistan.[10] They were banned by the government of Pakistan on 8th September 20110.[11] Since then they are operating underground.[12]

Baloch nationalism is a ideology, which says that Baloch is a distinct ethno-linguistic group of people, leaving in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran should unite and should found their own state free from these countries influence.[14]
