The Taliban
regime ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. The group
was formed in 1994 under the leadership of Mullah
Muhammad Omar. They were ousted by coalition forces
after the initiation of war on terror post 9/11. Their
links with terrorist and militant organizations such as
Al-Qaeda made them a priority target in the war on
terror. The organization in currently engaged in hostile
conflict against the coalition forces present in
Afghanistan. [36]
