The JUI-F
is part of the Deobandi movement and was formed in 1945,
when its leaders broke away from Jamiat Ulema-e Hind.
The reason being for the split was that the JUI leaders
supported the formation of Pakistan. The JUI later split
into two groups, one was led by Sami ul-Haq and the
other by Fazal ur-Rehman. The party has considerable
influence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and has been part of
coalition governments formed at federal and provincial
levels.
